My Eventful Month
I thought writing a blog would make me less lazy. At least for the sake of writing these funny/zany experiences I thought I would go do things I wouldn't generally do. Mostly I take the easy way out and start writing about that-book-that-loved or the series-that-i-am-crazy about. But, I did do a lot more than reading in the last one month. As ususal, laziness strikes yet again because it took me almost two weeks to write about these things. Also I am suffering from narcolepsy and chronic fatigue syndrome (self-diagnosed!). Anyways enough reasons for such a late entry I guess.
So here goes. Other than reading as if there is no tomorrow I did do few other things (oh btw I counted my monthly average is 4 books, I thought it would be much more than that, but apparently I am not even good at the one thing I do).
1. Opeth Concert: I know, I am old ergo, I should not try to keep up with my teenage music taste. Even though certain someone said chics who dig opeth have daddy issues, I heart Opeth. The band helped me get through some really dark days (I always wanted to say that :)). And then there is Mikeal. He is so cute and so funny! (No self-respecting death metal band would want someone to describe them as cute, but that’s what I am going to say!)
2. S’s Pre-marriage shopping: Now, this was one thing that I missed. S and I used to go crazy shopping once a month back in Chennai. We tried to recreate the olden days, with three malls and almost maxing out our credit cards. But it was well worth the effort, and boy, am I happy with my purchases! (S, you can thank me later, much later :P)
3. Kala Ghoda Festival: I am not much into the whole art festival thingy, but for once Mumbai looked a lot different. I tried my best to capture the atmosphere of the whole thing. And, again walking around in South Bombay is one thing I love which I did for two days.
4. Buddy Guy, Mahindra Blues Festival: This was a totally unexpected twist. I was not planning to go there at all. I was trying to save (albeit miserably!) and also there was the case of sold out of tickets. But P being P always finds a way. So, we got all dressed up and it was worth every freaking penny. It was the best concert to date, perfectly organized. I was literally dancing in the end.
5. Taj Enlightened Society, Comedy festival: I know I have been harping about this movie club, but I finally did attend their movie screening. Thanks to P, I woke up on a Sunday morning before 12 PM. I saw Arsenic and Old lace in Edward Theatre. It was one of those really old theatres, with the huge balconies and musty air. It was great.
So, yeah I am not just sleeping 20 hours a day, and this is just a proof of that! Anyways next month will be super-duper hectic with all the craziness. I will try to be the unofficial wedding photographer. So, I am excited! Let’s see how it goes..
