My Journey
Trains have become an intrinsic part of my life. I have been commuting by the local trains for the last two months and i have to say it is really refreshing from the mundane bus rides (at least there is less of pollution) and thanks to ladies compartment there is no problem of hanging near the doors.
The refreshing yet revolting smell of jasmines everywhere around you is the trademark of local trains..as if you have entered a flower shop...Chennai women cant seem to get enough of flowers and tacky jewelery(ohh those colors they flash in front of your eyes that you ll be blinded by the haze) it all seems so Indian with stimulating conversations going around among the older crowd(which is as good as gibberish to me)...but then there is a stark difference others are hooked to their mobile headsets and listening to FM which btw never play any language other than tamil. there are some things in Chennai that have become an intrinsic part of my life...the sweet smell of jasmines, the simple yet baroque styled railway stations and many more. i guess thats enough of train talk..but if one wants to enjoy Chennai local style you gotta take a ride in one of these local trains.
I think i got lost talking about local trains...yeah i have so much work that i actually think about all these things..i sit in front of the screen in my cubicle(they just gave us our cubicles...not that this is something exiting but just for the record i have now become one of the characters in Dilbert)
and browse imdb...this has become my work..read about all the movies if i m not watching them...i guess my obsession will never fade away. We have some other project specific training program again... people are really anxious to see us working full scale..
They have finally gave us our project after a month and a half of utterly useless training..i m now working in paypal QA( if you wanna know more about it you can check how good the project is in http://www.paypalsucks.com/) which means i have to find all the freaking mistakes other ppl do. one good thing i can think of is that we have a pantry filled with some good stuff....i guess we can rip them off for some time.
We have shifted into a bigger better place...finally the sweet air of freedom.....we got a cable connection which has only those channels which no one else even cares to browse through...
i m watching some obscure French channel..i guess thats better than any tamil serials with Sidney Sheldon novel inspired plot lines. Also did i forget to mention we have a pizza corner next to our apartment... so there is no need for me to cook anything but i can kiss dieting goodbye
Now that everything that was needed is all set...i m now in the pursuit of my new goal..all these days i was giving myself some reason or the other to procrastinate things but now it is no longer possible. The time has come for a few more goals because i have just completed the a pretty tough one..finding a good apt..a the next and the most difficult my list are :
to get an auto for 15 bucks from my place to tambaram stn (which is quite impossible because the Chennai auto guys are the minions of Satan himself)
thats all for now
cheers!!
P.S I guess its time to talk about another movie..i cant seem to stop myself from talking about this one..This time the movie is "Edukators". Sticking it to the man German style as some one said. It talks about youth, revolution, and disillusionment, though not necessarily in that order. In fact, it includes those three concepts, suggesting that one cannot exist without the other two. It is not like the hollywood lot where people try to preach their idealogies through movies but director Hans Weingartner is more interested in exploring his issue than commenting on it. Being the story of a trio of twenty-something activists this film pretty much accurately nails its characters. Flawed but passionate. Jan, Jule and Peter may not have it right all the time, but their hearts are clearly in the right place and we fall in love with them almost immediately. The 90s meets 60s movie tried to show that the more things change the more they remain the same.
Do check it out soon because they are making an remake in english..you dont want to watch that one even though they are trying to get Jake Gyllenhal for Jan's role...it ll be like watching Departed after Infernal Affairs (I m not againt Scorcese but there is no comparison between the two movies).
