Chungking Express
summer time back at home....its time to hog as much as u can and try to get back and get acquainted with all the new tv shows on the block. not many tv shows here though zee english has started off this old skool thing which has quite a good number of old tv shows i used to watch.
so now i have given myself a month time to get back into the movie watching business coz life in IIT Roorkee i totally dedicated to watching all the tv shows.
coming to the topic of discussion today i saw this movie Chungking Express. this might be the best movie i have seen in the last 6 months or so. i simply loved it.There, that is as simple as I can make it out.Wang Kar Woi the director made this movie as a moving canvass of images.
when we think of a romantic movie we picture is the boy meets girl crap but this movie is class apart.
its about love that is caught up in reality not gritty reality, just every day boring life and love, the sort of love we go through each day ourselves, the kinda incomplete love where two people meet each other briefly and spend more time dreaming of what could be rather than it actually taking place. this is one film that is romantic in all the right places, in all the right ways. its a flawless tale of brief encounters and abstract moments. It is endlessly rewatchable, and consistently thrilling
the movie has two stories which have no real connection other than the characters popping up from one part into another. tony leung has done an awesome job as a sad heart broken cop( this guy can seriously act). The camera styles add a common surreal element to each of the stories. the soundtrack is also adds to this with a few handpicked english tracks. one of my favorite songs California dreaming is played over and over again. i just loved the scenes of tony leung and the coffee shop girl. these things are something that can happen any day of your life but when you see them through the lens they are so artistic and so surreal. the screenplay of this movie is so good, the pace is almost perfect.
this would a good movie to watch for all those die hard romantics. but it is also so realistic that you can actually relate to most of the scenes. i will definitely suggest this movie for everyone who is bored of the sick hollywood crap.
in the end wang kar woi has become my favorite director.
