Vitrual World??
Someone once told me that meaningful writing stems from an acute longing or acute depression, I am not sure which. I daresay, numbness isn’t the hallmark of writers. I dare not say that i m numb but then it leaves me with acute depression...cant pick of the two.....better accept i m not a good writer :)....Well, here I am back after a longish break (mostly spent waiting for the muse to come knocking at my door). salinger does the trick whenever i read(reread) his works there is this restlessness to do something. this time around i have nothing to do so i thought why not write something different and stop cribbing about my life :)
this four years can be broadly divided into two parts the pre orkut phase and the post orkut one. orkut has changed our life in a lot of ways...it made us less social...less talks more chats....less phone calls more scraps....it has made us more virtual and less real...for all those introverts (me too) this was a good thing :)
some of us may feel good about it all we have to do is sit in our room and with one click we have the notes we wanted, the song we always longed to hear...anything and everything now at a click away. but this has created a void...when u r in a place where u can meet and talk to the person u r chatting we prefer the latter...have we lost the humane touch..have we become virtual beings
a few months back i was watching this anime lain where the protagonist is a shy introverted girl. she gets into this Wired network and boom she becomes a totally different person much more confident and bold. this may look all-so-good but the reality is all different in our case.
when i look into this so called orkut phenomenon its like people are having two different personalities...one their virtual and the other real...and the latter is slowly diminishing...its as if we have no life as the Warcraft guys say in southpark.... more we are into this virtual thing we are losing a much important physical connection with people. its as if we are part this other virtual world and this is the most important thing for us now..to create a chic image in this place....to be cool...but is this in any way helping us other than maybe keeping in touch with a few of our friends?
people may disagree with me saying a 1000 things but what the hell we are loosing this one precious life in front of the computer rather than grabbing the moment and enjoying it....we do need to live more in this real world to revel in all the goodness....
