Green Street Hooligans

It's exam time!!! Well decoded version it’s the best movie time for me….so I d/led some movies off the net and started watching….who cares its my last end sem anyway

So I got hold of this movie, Green Street Hooligans….no idea what it was about just that it’s going to have a lot of blood shed and punching. The last movie I saw of this genre was fight club. I loved this movie not because of the gore scenes but for the brutal direction…

This movie starts off with an epic head bashing brawl between two rival firms in the London underground. Much of the movie involves the merciless pounding of human flesh. It truly is an ode to the punch, a love letter to the stomp, an embrace of the head butt.

Elijah wood is pretty good in this movie after LOTR as a misfit Yankee in a London hooligan scene. The quiet, shy person learns that to feel truly alive we must bleed and draw blood.

This is one of those movies that is built, and transparently so, simply to illuminate the public the extreme nature of these football fan firms and what it does to the poor, directionless young men in England. It represents the worst aspects of the society. Even the other character of the who all have normal day jobs and potential to lead happy, meaningful lives, driven to take a step back and consider the course of each preposterous action. For what! For football? Is it for the some stupid game you give your whole life? Of course not. The philosophy boils down to - person must find something in their lives to stand up for and be willing to go beyond their practical inclinations. In the case of Hooligans that thing is ridiculously stupid and unreasonable, but it’s something, and depending on what life offers you, that might be all you have.

As woods said in the movie “I have never lived close to danger but I never felt safer I never felt more confident & people a mile could it & as for the violence it grew on me once u have taken a few punches and realized that you are not made of glass you don’t feel alive unless you are pushing as far as you can go”

It gives us an insight to be passionate about something anything for that matter to such an extent that is an achievement in itself. People may look at it as something stupid or ridiculous but we know that its worth all the trouble….I m not pro fighting or anything but it certainly gives us a view of a misfit who tries to find something that makes his life worthwhile….

Untill the next movie..cheerio
